「白手興家」英文怎樣說?

所謂「白手興家」﹐就是只憑雙手﹐不靠別人﹐由貧變富﹐英文是 to go from rags to riches 或者 to rise from poverty﹐而「白手興家的故事」就是 a rags-to-riches story。

Rag =「爛布」(破布)
e.g. I'll keep this rag for cleaning the car. 呢條爛布我留嚟抹車。

Rags =「襤褸的衣衫」
e.g. The old lady dressed in rags. 那老太太衣衫襤褸。
e.g. The family lives on public assistance. Their children's clothes are in rags. 那家人靠綜援為生, 孩子們的衣服都破破爛爛。

To go from rags to riches/ to rise from poverty  =  白手興家
